Sen. Yager is co-sponsoring Senate Bill 2538, the “Rural Economic Opportunity Act of 2016,” with Senate Majority Leader Mark Norris (R-Collierville) to spur economic development in some of the state’s most economically distressed counties.
The Prescription Safety Act of 2016, sponsored by Sen. Yager on behalf of Gov. Bill Haslam, revises regulation of controlled substances and makes permanent the changes made in the Prescription Safety Act of 2012. These acts have reduced doctor shopping in Tennessee by almost half and significantly reduced the amount of morphine prescribed.
Senate Bill 1564, sponsored by Sen. Yager, became law on July 1, 2016, and makes defendants charged with domestic assault and child abuse ineligible for pretrial diversion.
Sen. Yager is the sponsor of Senate Bill 839, which would phase out Tennessee’s Hall Income Tax. The Hall Tax relief has been a priority of Sen. Yager’s since his first term in office.
