Sen. Yager sponsored Senate Bill 839, which would phase out the Hall Income Tax in Tennessee. The bill would cut the tax contingent upon revenue growth exceeding three percent in any fiscal year until it reaches zero percent.

Originally filed in February 2015, as the 108th General Assembly began, the Hall Tax relief has been a priority for Sen. Yager since his first term in office.

In February 2016, Sen. Yager’s bill won approval in the Senate Finance, Ways & Means Revenue Subcommittee and was recommended to the full committee.

The House of Representatives companion bill is sponsored by Rep. Kent Calfee, R-Kingston, and Rep. Kevin Brooks, R-Cleveland.
