NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Senate State and Local Government Committee Chairman Ken Yager (R-Kingston) released the following statement regarding the announcement by Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey that he will not be seeking re-election:

“Ron Ramsey has the ability to make tough decisions and the character to do the right thing. We saw that in the Senate today. At the pinnacle of power and popularity, he decided not to run for re-election to spend more time with his family.”

“Speaker Ramsey is an extraordinary leader who knows who how to motivate rather than coerce. He does it by setting an example for the rest to follow.”

“The Lieutenant Governor leaves a lasting legacy for all Tennesseans. One that is rich with integrity, doing the right thing, and never losing sight of his beginnings.”

“We shall miss Ron Ramsey but never forget him.”
